________________
According to the Canadian Manufacturers &
Exporters 2001-2003 Management Issues Survey, there is a significant
shortage of skilled welders. Many
welders currently working are due to retire soon with few new skilled
welders to take their place. Welding
is one of the unique trades which offers many opportunities - working in
oil/gas fields/refineries/factories/small business/crafts/or operating
your own welding business. Automation/robotics
have entered the trade but have very little impact on the overall welding
employment opportunities due to the diversity and skills required.
